God is Longsuffering BUT His Judgment is Sure!

No matter how those of this world would twist God’s Word to try and appease themselves in their sin, His Word is still infallible and His Judgment is Sure!

NOTE: I am not writing this to open up debate. There has been enough debating and arguing about all of this! But, I, the same as all other citizens of the United States, have a right to voice my opinion and stand on my Biblical beliefs. I will not allow any hate comments or arguing, so don’t waste your time.

If I let myself, I could become terribly callous about the way our country is turning its back on the One and Only True God Jehovah, as it gives in to the demands of those who would try to force us to give our blessing for their sinful choices. I must say that I am weary of “loving the sinner, but hating the sin.” If this small group of homosexuals wish to live a life of abomination to the Lord, even after God’s righteous try and shine His light of truth from His Word for them to see, that is their choice, so be it. It is not our love that they want, it is our acceptance and tolerance of their sin. And if we are not accepting and tolerant of their sin, they wish to destroy us and our lively hoods as a way to force us into agreement. Right now, I feel as though I am part of a very small minority who would stand up against this wrong. Why do I feel this way? Because too many of my fellow Americans are burying their heads in the sand, singing “Kum-ba-ya!” “Do what feels good, God loves you.” Of course God loves all and would that none should perish. Do we read anywhere that Jesus said those things when He took a stand against those who defiled God’s House!? Of course not. It is not a matter of whether God loves us or not, it is a matter of living a life of obedience to God and letting our lights shine for His truth and glory. It is our love for God that should lead us to stand for His truths. It saddens me to the core to see that too many have taken the ‘easy’ road of silence and complacency, and therefore let their lights go dim.

I heard a report the other day that 60% of the American people are ‘okay’ with gay marriage because they do not speak out against it. REALLY! If that is true, this country is indeed in for a rude awakening as God steps back from our back-slidden country and lets each one of us face the consequences. I do not believe that 60% of the American people are okay with this abomination, I believe that 60% have let their lights for the Lord go out. Perhaps it is because of fear of what these who are used by evil are inflicting on those who would take a stand against them. Businesses are being fined hundreds of thousands of dollars and losing their business and then being slapped with gag orders from the corrupt judges to shut them up from voicing and acting upon their own beliefs. How sad that this corrupt legal system bends to the evil doers’ ways and strips the righteous of their rights! Things are definitely backwards!

When I hear the CEO of a big-name coffee bistro bully a Christian shareholder, who points out at a shareholders’ meeting that their profits are down perhaps because of the CEO’s declared stance for gay marriage, and no one stands up for the Christian shareholder, my righteous indignation boils over. I say, since many of us do not agree with gay marriage and many of us do own guns (he has also tweeted “if you own a gun, we do not want your business”), we will honor your request, Mr. CEO, not to give you our business! “Gasp!” Some would say, “You mean boycott them? But there are so many companies who spend our money to further their agenda for evil! Do we boycott them all?” When it is blatantly shoved in my face that my money will be used by a business to further the agenda of gay marriage or anything that goes against my Biblical beliefs or rights as set forth in our Constitution, why would I spend my money there! If more of us would do that, I guarantee that there would be a change in this country. It is a way for “Christians” to let our lights shine and take a stand for our Godly beliefs; for what is right!

This battle about gay marriage is but one spoke in the wheel of the fall of this great nation. It goes along with what has happened in so many of our churches over time – to pacify some, not hurt their feelings, and keep them coming through the doors, we give in on one small principle. Before we know it, it is another principle, then another, until we are no longer Bible principled churches, but are worldly, feel-good places for those who say they are Christians to go and ‘fulfill’ their duty each week. I believe the corruption of so many of our churches has been a pre-cursor to where we are today, just as the breakup of our families is.

Yes, I know that these things have been in the works for centuries; all happening gradually, as is satan’s way. I know that the stage is being set for the day that Jesus will call God’s church Home. I get my hope from that promise and look for that day, knowing that it is indeed very soon! But, while I am still on this earth I refuse to give up my right to my own beliefs and opinions which I do base upon God’s Holy Infallible Word, and I will not be silent about His truths! If more of us would stand up and say, “Enough!” we could change these atrocities. The gay community is but a very small percentage of the American people, but why is it that they seem to be winning this evil battle? Because too many have taken a back seat and kept silent. Remember the old saying, “It is the squeaky wheel that gets greased?” That is what is happening today, but it is the squeaks of the few who have chosen a worldly, instead of Godly lifestyle, that are being heard and catered to. Do we not know that this minority is being used by the liberal progressives who are forcing their agenda to change this country into what they want it to be – socialist! Do we learn nothing by watching what is happening to Greece!? Actually, a part of me feels sorry for the gay community being used this way, and they do not even see it. They are micro focused on trying to force those who do not agree with them to agree because they do not like to face their sin. Somewhere deep down inside themselves, they know they are going against what God wants for them. If they can shut us up, they do not have to deal with those convictions that God’s Holy Spirit places in their hearts.

One of the attributes of our Great and Merciful God is that He is indeed Long-suffering. God’s judgment is sure – Revelation 19: 2, 11 “For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand…And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.” God is called “longsuffering” because He does not execute judgment immediately. He waits – Isaiah 42:14-16 “I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once. I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools. And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.” God does not wait; to see what happens–He knows what will happen; not to see more clearly–He sees perfectly; not to gain more information– He knows everything. God waits because His priority is self-revelation, not judgment.

Longsuffering is not the absence of anger, but being slow to anger – Psalm 145:8 “The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.” God’s longsuffering shows an infinite amount of power, mercy, patience, and love–all of which He has in abundance – Numbers 14:18 “The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.”

God, for a while, tolerates insults, rejection, and indifference in order to draw people to repentance – Romans 2:4 “Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?” His longsuffering is linked with His great compassion and becomes active in order to draw us to Himself – 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

Romans 1:18-32

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Let us not take God’s mercy and longsuffering for granted! It is only for a time! While we are here and call ourselves His:

Theology – The Doctrine of God-Part 3

III. His Moral Attributes – Attributes are characteristics revealed in personal interaction with mankind. Some of God’s moral attributes include:

A. Holiness – Holiness means “to be totally separated from sin and evil.” It is the perfection of God whereby He abhors that which is evil and demands purity. Because of God’s holiness, a sinful individual has no right to come into God’s presence. For this reason, God turned His back on His own Son when Jesus “became sin for us.” God is a Holy God – 1 Peter 1:16 “Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” This is His greatest attribute. All other attributes of God are subject to His holiness. It is this holiness that is announced perpetually and eternally in Heaven: “And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.” (Isaiah 6:3) “And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORD God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.” (Revelation 4:8)

B. Justice – God is a just God. He exists eternally as a Judge who will mete out judgment. A Judge must condemn the guilty or let the innocent go free. As a Judge, God is remunerative (rewarding) and retributive (chastening). Since God cannot act contrary to His laws, our crimes must be punished. A person must suffer for his own sin or accept God’s plan of redemption.

God is the one who has been wronged by sin, therefore He is the only one who can determine how restitution is made. God has determined that restitution be made by the shedding of innocent blood. Only Christ’s blood is innocent, so Christ died for our sins and shed His blood to satisfy the Judge of all the universe. A person who believes on God’s Son, Jesus, Christ, as their personal Saviour is then pardoned and justified from all of their sins as the Judge considers the payment to have been paid in full by His Son Jesus Christ. “And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.” (Acts 13:39)

C. Righteousness – The attribute that causes God to always do right. “That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?” (Genesis 18:25) This wonderful attribute of God guarantees that He will always keep His promises. It would be wrong for Him to not keep His word. This is why the believer gains so much assurance by holding to the promises of God – God is righteous and will keep His Word. “O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us.” (Daniel 9:16) Because He is a righteous God, it is impossible for Him to do wrong or to lie.

D. Love – The world uses the word “love” so flippantly that many believers have a very shallow view of Biblical love. Love is concern for the welfare of another even above one’s own welfare. The world’s idea of love is usually lust or, at best, selfishness. Lust is getting. Love is giving. Lust cannot wait to get. Love cannot wait to give.

As believers, we are commanded to love other believers, our enemies, and our Lord. We are to show our love for God by keeping His commandments and for others by sacrificing our lives for them. This is the type of love that was showed to us by God. “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.” (1 John 3:16) “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” (1 John 4:16)

E. Mercy – Mercy is God’s compassion in not giving the sinner what he deserves. “Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.” (Micah 7:18) “Mercy” comes from a Hebrew word that is the same root as the word for a mother’s womb. It is caring for someone who is completely helpless. God cares for helpless people by His moral attribute of mercy.

F. Grace – Grace is the unmerited goodness and love of God for those who have forfeited it. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:” (Ephesians 2:8) Whereas mercy is God not giving us what we deserve, grace is God giving us what we do not deserve. Grace is when God gives us His enablement and power to become what we ought to be, to go where we ought to go, and to do what we ought to do. Grace is God giving us all of His resources at every experience we have. “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)

G. Truth – God is a God of truth. He hates every lie. “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19) “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6) “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” (John 17:17) “That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:” (Hebrews 6:18)

These are just some of God’s moral attributes that He has revealed to us through His Word.

Theology – The Doctrine of God Part-2

II.The Natural Attributes of GodAttributes are the qualities or characteristics of a person or thing. Let us look at God’s natural attributes.

3rd quarter of 16th century

A. Transcendent – God is transcendent to both time and place. By this we mean He is above His creation. “For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite one.” (Isaiah 57:15) Today, many ‘Christians‘ tend to bring God down to their level, when it would be more benefit to keep Him high and lifted up as He deserves.

“And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.” (John 3:13) Jesus was in both places at the same time! Wow! Now that is deep!

B. ImmanenceImmanence means that God is within His creation. (Again see Isaiah 57:15) and “One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” (Ephesians 4:6) God is not only above and all around His creation, He is in His creation, especially dwelling within them who are believers in His Son. Therefore, nothing can be hidden from Him.

C. Eternal – God has no beginning nor ending. There is no past, present nor future with God. Only eternal present. He is not limited by time. “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.” (Psalm 90:2)

D. Infinite – God has no limitation in space. All of His attributes are without limit. He cannot be limited, as seen in the following verses: “But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?” (1 Kings 8:27)

“Great is our Lord and of great power: his understanding is infinite.” (Psalm 147:5)

“Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord.” (Jeremiah 23:24)

E. Immutable – God is unchangeable, invariable, and permanent. He is not capable of, nor susceptible to change. “For I am the Lord, I change not;” (Malachi 3:6)

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” (James 1:17)

Sometimes, God changes in His judgments and decisions towards an individual or nation, based on their behavior – “And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.” (Genesis 6:6) But God never changes in His character. For instance, God will always be holy. He will never become unholy for ANYONE.

F. Omniscient – God is all knowing. He knows the future as well as the past. He knows all things, whether actual or merely possible. He knows things immediately and spontaneously. He knows the thoughts of man better than man knows himself. “Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:” (Isaiah 46:10)

“Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.” (Psalm 147:5)

“Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.” (Hebrews 4:13)

“O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.” (Psalm 139:1-4)

Omnicient-Omnipotent-Omnipresent....

G. Omnipresent – God is everywhere, present in the universe. “Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.” (Psalm 139:7-10)

“Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God afar off? Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord.” (Jeremiah 23:23-24)

H. Omnipotent – God is all powerful. He is able to do any thing He desires. “Then Job answered the Lord, and said, I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.” (Job 42:1-2)

“Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:” (Jeremiah 32:17)

“But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)

“And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.” (Revelation 19:6)

He is called the Almighty God: “And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.” (Genesis 17:1)

He is also called the Lord God Almighty: “And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.” (Revelation 4:8)
