Being Aware of Faith-Friendly Companies Helps us to be Better Stewards of God’s Money

So I suppose I should say happy Black Friday. Except I never really cared much for this day. Kudos to those who have the courage to do it.

My thoughts today are strongly on how God intervened in this Presidential election and had mercy on His children. Not only am I certain that God intervened to try and turn this country around for the good and bring Him back into it, but I also believe He woke many of His children up to finally take a stand before the progressives would totally destroy what God began here. It appears that there really are many more Christians in this country than we were sure of over the past couple of decades.

I would encourage my brothers and sisters in Christ to stay strong in doing right and continue to take a stand for Godly values and not expect those in charge to do it for us. God heard our prayers and answered them, because we stood up and said “Enough!” He has won this battle, but there are many more to overcome in the near future. It will take all of us on our knees and attempting to live a truly Christ-like life to bring about the needed changes in this blessed land. “This Little Light of Mine, I’m Gonna Let it Shine!” ought to be a song in all our hearts. Can the Lord continue to count on us to do our part?

It appears that many are not aware of some of the resources at our disposal to stand for Godly principles and really make our country great again. As many are out there trying to get the best deals for their loved ones to have a happy Christmas, I wonder how many are aware of the companies who are “faith-friendly.” We can be encouraged by the fact that for every company used by evil there is an alternative for Christians to turn to.

We must understand that when we give the money that God blesses us with to those companies who attack God’s morals and therefore His children, we are encouraging them to think that it is okay with us that they destroy the lives of those who strive to live out their Christ-like beliefs in these tumultuous times. After all they do not hide the fact that they take our money to further the agenda of the progressive left. It should really bother us that the money God gives us helps contribute to groups, such as the homosexuals, who sue our brothers and sisters out of business, and in the process destroy their livelihoods, because they do not agree with their lifestyle. We know that that group of people is only between 1% and 2% of our total population, yet they seem to get more done for evil than God’s children do for God’s Kingdom. We must also make ourselves aware of those judges who stand for God or evil.

Let us not stop shining for Jehovah God just because the election appears to have went the way we wanted it to. The evil ones are right now trying to influence those in power to try and undo the results of this election. I believe that our mighty God is more powerful than they, and He will not let that happen. But He needs each and everyone of us to live for Him, and continue to stand up and make our voices heard for Him. There are many more of us than there are those influenced by evil.

Some would say, “There are many companies who contribute to the devil’s evil agenda. We can’t know them all, so it does not matter if we spend God’s money there.” (I know, hardly makes any sense at all does it.) Well, there are resources to make us aware, and I will share one shortly. My answer is, “We may not know all of those doing satan’s work, but there are many who are blatantly open about their “agenda.” We have empowered them by saying nothing and supporting their cause with God’s money! So because we do not know all of them, should we still choose to give God’s money to those we are aware of and help them further evil in our country?!” I would say that is just plain laziness on the part of the Christian.

Luke 16:10 “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.”

When we are made aware of even one who goes against Godly values and furthers satan’s values, we have a choice to make. We can either say no and refuse to contribute to their agenda, with God’s money, or we can say we do not care, like we have in the past, and then when things are gone awry and we suffer the consequences of sticking our heads in the sand, we will again ask, “How did this happen?” Really?!

I have shared this information before, and I feel led to do it again. The Faith Driven Consumer organization works very hard to do the work required to help us be aware of faith-friendly, and not so faith friendly companies that help us to make the Godly choices this country so badly needs to get back to following a Holy God. “Because He is Holy, we are to be Holy.” Although this is just one area where we can choose to make a Godly difference, it is a very important starting place.

If we are putting God first in all areas of our lives, this is not a hard choice to make. Colossians 1:18 “And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.”

I am sure there are more organizations like this out there. Please share any that you know of.

Got Problems? Seek God’s Solutions!

You say, “What do you mean, Got problems?! Of course I’ve got problems. Don’t we all?” Well I guess it’s all in our perspective. Sometimes what we see as problems are just God’s way of bringing us through an experience to teach us to be more like Him. I am understanding more and more as my days go by, that if God is allowing a challenge in my life, it is because I need to learn something about Him and therefore, I am more able to become more like Him, and be more able to help others in their need. I can crawl within myself and have a pity party or I can ask, “What are you trying to teach me today Lord?” If we are truly saved by the Blood of Jesus, we will see as we mature that life is full of lessons to draw us nigh to Him. We can wallow in self-pity and never mature in our Walk, or we can seek God and ask Him what His solutions to these problems are.

The first step in overcoming problems, whether they are physical, emotional, or spiritual, is to admit to ourselves that we are in need and that we desire a change. Jesus asked the man who had been lying by the Bethesda pool for 38 years a very important question: “Wilt thou be made whole?” In other words, “Do you care enough about your problem to do something about it–even if it requires on your part some action, effort, sacrifice, or even suffering?”

As is typical of so many in need, this man answered the Lord with self-pity. When Jesus sees us in need of help and He sends a willing person to help, do we play the martyr role? “There is no hope for me. Nobody loves me.” The person who clings to this attitude is unlikely to experience healing.

Because Jesus is gracious and He knows our deepest desires, He often cuts through our weeping and self-martyrdom and puts us to the test. “Get up,” He says. “Take your problem and move on. Do not wait for other people to pity you. Get up.”

If we are in need of a touch from the Lord, we must ask ourselves if we are so eager to be changed that we are willing to do something about our situation. When we let God know we are obedient to His will and we are eager to do whatever it takes for us to be whole, He will send Jesus in the form of a person, a verse from His Word, or a new thought in our minds. We must act upon what God tells us to do. He made us, and He knows how to fix precisely what is broken within us.

Finally, when we feel God’s power bring about positive changes in our lives, we must not let doubters convince us that these changes are only coincidental. We must walk firmly away, as did the man with his mat under his arm, and simply say, “Jesus healed me.”

John 5:1-15 “After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath. The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed. He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk. Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk? And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place. Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.”

Mary of Bethany

Mary of Bethany, a committed follower of Christ, stands as a role model for every dedicated disciple of Christ. She was apparently unmarried, living with her older sister, Martha, and their brother Lazarus. Their home was a friendly retreat for the Lord, who may have been close to them in age.

Mary, more than any other in the New Testament, is associated with sitting at Jesus’ feet, a testimony to her hunger for spiritual truth and understanding.

Luke 10:39 – “And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.”

John 11:32 “Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.”

John 12:3 “Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.” Yet she not only sat at His feet; she also served Him by anointing Him with costly ointment to show her desire to meet practical needs as well as to seek spiritual blessing.

Mary’s example demonstrates her strong decision-making capabilities. She chose, Jesus said, to listen to Him, and later her gift of ointment poured out in preparation for His burial was a well thought-out act of worship. She was contemplative and sensitive, not one of many words. When Lazarus died, tears and very few words expressed her heart’s grief. Jesus understood and He wept with her – John 11:32-35 “Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled. And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. Jesus wept.”

True to Jesus’ prophecy, Mary has lived in history as one personifying commitment. Three gospels include her significant sacrificial gesture–ten and one-third ounces of pure spikenard ointment was worth a year’s wages. With humility, she lavished it upon her Saviour:

Matthew 26:6-13 “Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat. But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor. When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me. For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always. For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.”

Mark 14:1-9 “After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death. But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people. And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head. And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her. And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me. For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.”

John 11:1-6 “Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.) Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick. When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby. Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.”

Mary, a woman characterized by spiritual insight and readiness to act upon her faith, was thus commended by Christ – Matthew 26:13 “Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.”

A Very Timely Question- “Are You Preparing for His Rule?”

return-of-christ

Anyone who knows me is used to hearing me talk about the Rapture and how it is very near, and how what we do here on this earth is to prepare us for what we will do in God’s Kingdom in Heaven. I want to thank Pastor Chris Staub for his devotion today in the Baptist Bread for this reminder. Are we all getting ready?

“Are You Preparing For His Rule?”

” Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.”

“There are 1,845 references to the Second Coming of Christ in the Old Testament. Seventeen Old Testament books give it prominence. Out of the 260 chapters in the New Testament, there are over 300 references to the Second Advent or Second Coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Many Christians seem to ignore the coming rule and reign of Christ, as if it were a small event. The prevalent attitude seems to be, “All my troubles will be gone with the Rapture.” While there is some truth to that, there is a gross ignorance of accountability to the coming revelation of Jesus Christ to rule on this earth. The rapture of the church is a small part of that prophecy. What about the Judgment Seat of Christ, the marriage supper of the Lamb, the great war where Jesus conquers the entire earth at the Battle of Armageddon? What about His returning the earth and animals to pre-flood days? What about His majestic rule in Jerusalem and the millennial temple? Our service now determines what we will be doing then, according to Matthew 25 and Luke 19. You better get ready, not just for the Rapture, but the Day of the Lord. “This is the day which the LORD hath made,” is not just a nice devotional text out of Psalm 118:24, it is a prophecy of the thousand-year reign of Christ! And, folk, that is just the beginning! How are you preparing? Are you ready? The Revelator wrote, “the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready” (Revelation 19:7b).” (Emphasis in bold is mine, Anna.)

Do You Know Him Today!?

Please Don’t Turn Him Away!

Recognize your condition – “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 No one is good enough to go to Heaven on his own merit. No matter how much good we do, we still fall short.

Realize that there is a penalty for sin – “For the wages of sin is death…” Romans 6:23 Just as there are wages for good, there is punishment for wrong. The penalty for our sin is eternal death in a place called Hell.

Believe that Christ died for you – “But God commendeth His love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 Christ’s great love for us was shown when He died on the cross to pay our debt to sin.

Trust Christ alone as your Saviour. “For the wages of sin is death; BUT THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD.” Romans 6:23; and “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13 Everlasting life is a gift purchased by the blood of Jesus and offered freely to those who call upon Him by faith.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10

If you do not remember a time in your life when you asked Jesus to be your Saviour and Lord, please do so now and let me know so I can pray for you.

Pray now and confess that you are a sinner, and ask God to save you, and believe that you will receive Christ as your Saviour!

The Work of the Holy Spirit – Part 3 – What He Will Do

* He will guide the Believer.

Acts 8:29 “Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.” (I suggest you read the whole chapter.)

Romans 8:14 “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

* He will give assurance of Salvation.

Romans 8:14-17 “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.”

* He will be the Believer’s teacher.

1 John 2:27 “But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.”

* He will intercede for us.

Romans 8:26 “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

* He will comfort us.

John 14:16 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;”

* He will sanctify us.

2 Thessalonians 2:13 “But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:”

* He will accomplish regeneration in us.

John 3:6 “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”

* He will make us aware of our sin.

John 16:8 ” And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:”

* He convicts and convinces us of the truth of the Gospel.

John 16:8, 13, 14 “And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:”; “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”; “He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.”

* He will empower us to witness for the LORD.

Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Acts 4:31 “And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.”

* He will destroy the power of sin in our lives.

Romans 8:2-6 “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”

* He will lead and even control our lives. His leading will be obvious by our fruits.

Romans 8:13-16 “For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:”

Galatians 5:16-25 “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”

* He will distribute gifts to be used in the Kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 12:4-11 “Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.”

Are You a New Creature?

2 Corinthians 5:17 Tells us: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

Notice how the words be and he is are italicized to note their importance. If any man is truly IN Christ or saved by the blood of Christ, and Christ is his master, then he is a new creature! Old habits and bad choices are passed away and we are become new IN CHRIST. I know that when we are first born again, we are babes in Christ and we need time to grow in Him and to become more like Him with each passing day. We grow by staying close to Him just as a newborn baby stays close to its Momma and its family.

I am referring to those who claim to be bought by the blood of Jesus, but we see no fruits or evidence of that. It appears that some choose to stay in their old sinful ways even though they may have accepted God’s free Gift of Salvation from Hell. They have their “ticket” to Heaven, but they do not want to know or remember that Jesus said, “Go and sin no more,” and “feed my sheep.” The Great Commission that Jesus gave when he went back to Heaven was for all of us, not just our Pastors and Spiritual Leaders. What was the Samaritan woman’s first instinct after Jesus told her “all that ever she did?” She went and told everyone she knew about Jesus and brought them to Him. If you do a study on how the apostles were chosen by Jesus, you will find the same reaction to their knowing Him. They brought others to Him.

I know that, for the most part, we all have our times of backsliding. I know I had mine when the world dealt me what I thought were “raw deals.” The biggest reason that happens is that we become centered on our selfish flesh, choose to go away from our fellowship with other believers and “the assembling of ourselves together.” Then we just cannot find the time to fellowship with God, nor to spend time in His Great Guidebook, the Holy Bible. Before we know it, we become comfortable in a sinful lifestyle and numb to the prompting of the Holy Spirit’s sweet voice who is constantly, softly calling us back to a relationship with our Saviour. When we choose to ignore that prompting for very long, God will let us wallow in our sin and face dire consequences of it. While Jehovah God is truly a loving God (I mean, He continually forgives us and welcomes us back into His arms over and over again), some forget that He is also a Just and Holy God and His very presence commands justice and righteousness. This world, of which satan is the ruler, offers many temporary delights to get us hooked to it. Then, when the evil one knows he does not need to be threatened by us and our witness, he tosses us out like garbage. He wins!

The thought that God has laid on my heart over the past couple of years is that even though we may have our “Ticket to Heaven,” we will still stand before Jesus and give account to Him, face to face, of all our actions after we said yes to His Saving Grace. Others who reject Him will be thrown into Hell, kicking and screaming, and most definitely some will look each of us in the eye and ask, “why didn’t you tell me this would happen?” It is so very important that we all remember that when we claim the Salvation of Jesus Christ, the lost world watches every move we make. Our actions could bring some to Jesus, or we could pacify satan and let our sinful lifestyles help them to eternal torment in Hell. And there is a Heaven and there is a Hell and they are for ETERNITY! We are going to one place or the other, FOREVER!

So, if we truly be in Christ, we are NEW CREATURES! Old things have passed away, let’s leave them there and let God make all things new in our lives. “They will know us by our fruits!” Are we living as new creatures so as to lead others to Christ, or are we backsliding or, God forbid, not truly bought by the precious blood of Jesus.

MAKE YOUR CALLING SURE!! And if it is sure, stay under the protective wings of your Creator, Jehovah God! Enjoy the strength that is found in gathering with other strong and mature believers who are truly letting their lights shine for Jesus. Stay in His Word daily. We have no protection of our own from that evil destroyer who prowls to and fro in this world seeking whom he may destroy and devour! But oh, the power in the name of Jesus and the reminders of God’s truths from His Word! When Jesus was tempted by the destroyer, what did He do? He reminded that evil being of truths from God’s Word by quoting Scripture. Do you know God’s Word well enough to do that?

One last thought – Christmas is all about Jesus. We call it His birthday. Have you thought about giving Him a birthday gift? I wonder how you would feel if someone gave you a birthday party and everyone but you got a gift. Hmmmm.

Perhaps Christ would really love the gift of our commitment to truly being the NEW CREATURES in Him that His Word says we are when we are truly Saved by His Sacrifice.
