The Work of the Holy Spirit – Part 1

Attributes of the Holy Spirit: Who He Is

* He possesses omniscience (He has infinite knowledge; He knows everything there is to know).

1 Corinthians 2:11, 12 “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.”

* He possesses omnipresence (He can be everywhere at once).

Psalm 139:7 ” Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?”

*He possesses omnipotence (He has unlimited power).

Job 33:4 “The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.”

* He is Truth.

1 John 5:6 “This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.”

*He gives life.

Luke 11:13 “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?”

* He possesses creative wisdom.

Isaiah 40:13 “Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?”

* He possesses ALL the attributes of deity; He is God!

Acts 5:3, 4 “But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.”

The Doctrine of Jesus – Part 3

The Deity of Jesus Christ – Part 2

C. Jesus Christ is the Creator

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” – John 1:3. “Him” is Jesus, see verse 14 “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

1 Corinthians 8:6 – “But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.”

Ephesians 3:9 “And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:”

Colossians 1:16 “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:”

Hebrews 1:1-2 “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;”

D. Jesus Christ has No Beginning and No Ending

He was not created, He has always existed and He is eternal. Micah 5:2 “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.” Jesus was born in Bethlehem Ephratah.

John 1:1, 14 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” Colossians 1:17 “And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.”

1 John 1:1 “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;”

As typified in the Old Testament Theophany of Melchizedek: “Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.” Hebrews 7:3

E. Jesus Christ is Holy and Sinless

2 Corinthians 5:21 “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

Hebrews 7:26 “For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;”

1 John 2:1 “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:”

Isaiah 53:9 “And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.”

In John 8:46 Jesus said, “Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?”

Hebrews 4:15 “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”

1 Peter 1:19 “But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:”

1 Peter 2:22 “Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:”

1 John 3:5 “And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.” Jesus is the only sinless, spotless sacrifice that can absolve us of our sin.
