Why do so many of God’s children forget that we will give account to Jesus?

Looking around at Christian behaviour today, I have to ask myself if many are aware of why we need to live our lives on this earth with eternity in mind. If we know and understand what God has revealed about the end time, it should cause us to live now with eternity in mind. I have always told my children that what we do with Jesus after we are saved will determine our lives in Heaven forever. How can we specifically focus on living for Jesus with Heaven in mind?

We can share the Gospel regularly. In light of eternity, it is vital that we make time to obey Christ’s Great Commission on a regular basis. Our time here is indeed very limited. It can be gone in the blink of an eye. The missionary, Amy Carmichael, once wrote “We shall have all eternity to celebrate the victories, but we have only the few hours before sunset in which to win them.” And contrary to some opinions, it is not just the Pastor’s or Missionary’s job to “go and tell.” Once we are Saved by Jesus’ blood, we are all His disciples. Mark 16:15-16 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”

We will give an account. 2 Corinthians 5:10 During the Tribulation time on earth, we will stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ. “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” This judgment is not the same as the Great White Throne Judgment. It is not to determine if we are going to Heaven or Hell. Jesus’ blood has already cleansed us from all our sin – I John 2:2 “And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our’s only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” It is not to judge us for every wicked thing we have done, those sins were already judged at the cross. It is to test what we have done for Christ.

Just as a competitor in an athletic competition would stand before the ancient bema seat to receive his reward, so we will stand before our Lord to receive our rewards for our faithful service to Him after we took Him as our Lord and Master. The Judgment Seat of Christ is to reward us for the works that we do for God now, but they must be done with pure motives, not fleshly, selfish motives. I Corinthians 3:12-15 “Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”

Have you ever received a ribbon or trophy after you competed in an event? You were rewarded for the skill you did develop, but the moments you could have been training but didn’t, or the moments you spent in a counter-productive way to your training, weren’t revealed during the giving of the rewards. Those moments were simply wasted–the only “punishment” being a loss of a higher reward.

Scripture mentions at least 5 rewards, or Crowns that we can win. Every child of God should have a goal to win each of these crowns. Why? Because we will have the chance to cast them at Jesus’ feet, giving Him the honor He deserves. After all, was it not He who took our punishment on the Cross, is it not He who enables us to serve Him? I will never forget how excited I became when I first learned about the Bema Seat Judgment and the Crowns that I might receive for what I do for the Lord now. I still experience that excitement when I am reminded of these rewards. Not because I want anything for my service, but because I believe when we see our Lord face to face, in His Holy presence, we will immediately be convicted about not having done more for He who took our punishment so that we can live in bliss forever with Him. I will be so happy to take those crowns and lay them at the feet of my Saviour, for without Him, I would not be there.

  1. The Crown of Righteousness: This crown is given to those who look forward to the return of Christ. 2 Timothy 4:8 “Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” I do not know how a true child of God could not be excitedly looking forward to Jesus’ appearing as we are ‘caught up in the air.” It is our great Hope to share with the world!
  2. The Crown of Life: This is the martyr’s crown, but it is also given to those who overcome temptation. James 1:12 “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.” Revelation 2:10 “Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.” I believe that when we are persecuted by evil for Christ’s sake, God bathes us in His Grace to endure.
  3. The Incorruptible Crown: This is given to those who exhibit temperance or moderation in their lives. It is the result of yielding to the Holy Spirit and being a testimony to those around us. I Corinthians 9:25 “And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.”
  4. The Crown of Rejoicing: This crown is given to those who have given their lives to reach people for Christ. The reason it is called a crown of rejoicing is because there is no greater joy than being used to win someone to Christ. Even the angels in Heaven rejoice when a lost soul turns from sin to newness in life in Christ Jesus! And they do not take part in the honor we have of being an Ambassador for Him as we lead others to God’s Saving Grace. I Thessalonians 2:19 “For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?”
  5. The Crown of Glory: This crown is given to those who faithfully help lead people in the Word of God. It is not reserved only for pastors. Every child of God should be actively involved in teaching someone else. I Peter 5:4 “And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.” The most exciting moment of the Judgment Seat of Christ is what we have the privilege to do with these rewards–cast them at Jesus’ feet in grateful worship. Revelation 4:10-11 “The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”

Every day, we are in the middle of a spiritual battle. satan actively works to resist us and to resist our efforts to live for God. We must always remember, however, that God is greater, and that He has given us the resources to live each day in victory. Here are a few practical ways we can live in light of eternity:

“Put on” the whole armor of God. Every day, think through the various pieces of the armor of God, and make a decision to “wear” each piece. Ephesians 6:10-20 “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth (Belt of truth-Believing in God’s truth to protect us from deception and lies; having honesty and integrity about our lives), and having on the breastplate of righteousness (Doing right); And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace (Being conscious of our testimony, ready to witness and bringing the gospel to others); Above all, taking the shield of faith (Trusting God), wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation (Remembering God’s grace that saved us and being assured of His promise), and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of GodPraying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints (Praying for others); And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”

Tell others about Christ, and invest in their spiritual growth. The most important way we can prepare for eternal rewards to cast at Jesus’ feet is to lead others to Christ, and invest in their spiritual growth.

We must live every day looking forward to Jesus’ return. Like a bride anticipating her wedding day, remember Christ’s coming. This thought brings both joy and diligence!

Are We Preparing for our Service in Heaven?

I have to wonder, with the state of affairs in the U.S., how many of those who claim to be children of the one and only God Jehovah, truly understand that we will give account to Him for what we have or have not done for the cause of Christ after accepting Him as Lord, and that how we live our lives in this short time on earth is to prepare us for eternity in Heaven.

Matthew 25

1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.
19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

God is Longsuffering BUT His Judgment is Sure!

No matter how those of this world would twist God’s Word to try and appease themselves in their sin, His Word is still infallible and His Judgment is Sure!

NOTE: I am not writing this to open up debate. There has been enough debating and arguing about all of this! But, I, the same as all other citizens of the United States, have a right to voice my opinion and stand on my Biblical beliefs. I will not allow any hate comments or arguing, so don’t waste your time.

If I let myself, I could become terribly callous about the way our country is turning its back on the One and Only True God Jehovah, as it gives in to the demands of those who would try to force us to give our blessing for their sinful choices. I must say that I am weary of “loving the sinner, but hating the sin.” If this small group of homosexuals wish to live a life of abomination to the Lord, even after God’s righteous try and shine His light of truth from His Word for them to see, that is their choice, so be it. It is not our love that they want, it is our acceptance and tolerance of their sin. And if we are not accepting and tolerant of their sin, they wish to destroy us and our lively hoods as a way to force us into agreement. Right now, I feel as though I am part of a very small minority who would stand up against this wrong. Why do I feel this way? Because too many of my fellow Americans are burying their heads in the sand, singing “Kum-ba-ya!” “Do what feels good, God loves you.” Of course God loves all and would that none should perish. Do we read anywhere that Jesus said those things when He took a stand against those who defiled God’s House!? Of course not. It is not a matter of whether God loves us or not, it is a matter of living a life of obedience to God and letting our lights shine for His truth and glory. It is our love for God that should lead us to stand for His truths. It saddens me to the core to see that too many have taken the ‘easy’ road of silence and complacency, and therefore let their lights go dim.

I heard a report the other day that 60% of the American people are ‘okay’ with gay marriage because they do not speak out against it. REALLY! If that is true, this country is indeed in for a rude awakening as God steps back from our back-slidden country and lets each one of us face the consequences. I do not believe that 60% of the American people are okay with this abomination, I believe that 60% have let their lights for the Lord go out. Perhaps it is because of fear of what these who are used by evil are inflicting on those who would take a stand against them. Businesses are being fined hundreds of thousands of dollars and losing their business and then being slapped with gag orders from the corrupt judges to shut them up from voicing and acting upon their own beliefs. How sad that this corrupt legal system bends to the evil doers’ ways and strips the righteous of their rights! Things are definitely backwards!

When I hear the CEO of a big-name coffee bistro bully a Christian shareholder, who points out at a shareholders’ meeting that their profits are down perhaps because of the CEO’s declared stance for gay marriage, and no one stands up for the Christian shareholder, my righteous indignation boils over. I say, since many of us do not agree with gay marriage and many of us do own guns (he has also tweeted “if you own a gun, we do not want your business”), we will honor your request, Mr. CEO, not to give you our business! “Gasp!” Some would say, “You mean boycott them? But there are so many companies who spend our money to further their agenda for evil! Do we boycott them all?” When it is blatantly shoved in my face that my money will be used by a business to further the agenda of gay marriage or anything that goes against my Biblical beliefs or rights as set forth in our Constitution, why would I spend my money there! If more of us would do that, I guarantee that there would be a change in this country. It is a way for “Christians” to let our lights shine and take a stand for our Godly beliefs; for what is right!

This battle about gay marriage is but one spoke in the wheel of the fall of this great nation. It goes along with what has happened in so many of our churches over time – to pacify some, not hurt their feelings, and keep them coming through the doors, we give in on one small principle. Before we know it, it is another principle, then another, until we are no longer Bible principled churches, but are worldly, feel-good places for those who say they are Christians to go and ‘fulfill’ their duty each week. I believe the corruption of so many of our churches has been a pre-cursor to where we are today, just as the breakup of our families is.

Yes, I know that these things have been in the works for centuries; all happening gradually, as is satan’s way. I know that the stage is being set for the day that Jesus will call God’s church Home. I get my hope from that promise and look for that day, knowing that it is indeed very soon! But, while I am still on this earth I refuse to give up my right to my own beliefs and opinions which I do base upon God’s Holy Infallible Word, and I will not be silent about His truths! If more of us would stand up and say, “Enough!” we could change these atrocities. The gay community is but a very small percentage of the American people, but why is it that they seem to be winning this evil battle? Because too many have taken a back seat and kept silent. Remember the old saying, “It is the squeaky wheel that gets greased?” That is what is happening today, but it is the squeaks of the few who have chosen a worldly, instead of Godly lifestyle, that are being heard and catered to. Do we not know that this minority is being used by the liberal progressives who are forcing their agenda to change this country into what they want it to be – socialist! Do we learn nothing by watching what is happening to Greece!? Actually, a part of me feels sorry for the gay community being used this way, and they do not even see it. They are micro focused on trying to force those who do not agree with them to agree because they do not like to face their sin. Somewhere deep down inside themselves, they know they are going against what God wants for them. If they can shut us up, they do not have to deal with those convictions that God’s Holy Spirit places in their hearts.

One of the attributes of our Great and Merciful God is that He is indeed Long-suffering. God’s judgment is sure – Revelation 19: 2, 11 “For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand…And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.” God is called “longsuffering” because He does not execute judgment immediately. He waits – Isaiah 42:14-16 “I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once. I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools. And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.” God does not wait; to see what happens–He knows what will happen; not to see more clearly–He sees perfectly; not to gain more information– He knows everything. God waits because His priority is self-revelation, not judgment.

Longsuffering is not the absence of anger, but being slow to anger – Psalm 145:8 “The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.” God’s longsuffering shows an infinite amount of power, mercy, patience, and love–all of which He has in abundance – Numbers 14:18 “The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.”

God, for a while, tolerates insults, rejection, and indifference in order to draw people to repentance – Romans 2:4 “Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?” His longsuffering is linked with His great compassion and becomes active in order to draw us to Himself – 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

Romans 1:18-32

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Let us not take God’s mercy and longsuffering for granted! It is only for a time! While we are here and call ourselves His:

A Message of Warning from the One True God Jehovah!

Very powerful, prophetic warning to the leaders and people of the United States of America. I believe God sent this man to give this warning from Jeshua just as He sent prophets in the Old Days. God will only bless this nation if it turns from the evils it is allowing today!

God Bless you Rabbi Jonathan Cahn for being obedient to God’s command to deliver His message!

Be Prepared for Opposition

Matthew 10:34 “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.”

When we decide to take up Jesus’ cross and live for Him and put Him first, we must be prepared for opposition which will come, not only from the lost in this world, but much more heartbreaking is that it will come from those closest to us. If they are not seeking to know Christ more and to become more like Him each day, as we are, the conviction will be such that they will not be comfortable in our presence and they will accuse us of judging them and of being self-righteous. We must bathe ourselves in His Word and claim His promises, as we continue on our path with our Saviour and lift them up to Him for deliverance from this world.

Matthew 10:35-42:

“For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.”

Living for God Until we Go to Heaven

Scripture refers to Heaven in three different ways: the vast expanse of space that surrounds the earth; the unequaled celestial universe; and the longed-for dwelling place of God. The reality that Christians will one day live forever in the presence of the Lord is a fundamental doctrine of the faith. The Bible only gives us a few glimpses of this Heavenly abode. It is a place prepared for Believers – John 14:1-3. It is a place without sorrow, darkness, or any kind of sin – Revelation 21:1-7. In Heaven, we will be like Christ; yet we will be able to recognize one another – 1 John 3:2. The most important thing about Heaven, however, is the presence of God. We will be forever with Him. Heaven is not meant to be an ethereal concept that we store in some mental safe-deposit box until we feel the need for it. We are to live now in the light of eternity. The values and perspective of eternity should guide our lives in the present – 2 Peter 3:10-12:

“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?”

This is a subject that has been on my heart for some time now because I so wish for more of us to understand that just getting saved is not all there is to going to Heaven. Being saved by the precious blood of Jesus is all that is needed to be able to call Heaven our future home, but I do not believe the “rest of the story” is being taught in our churches today. I believe that there are very many who accept Jesus as Saviour, but that is the end of the journey for them; they have their ticket to Heaven. Salvation is just the beginning of a new life in Christ in which we all need to grow in and strive to be more like Christ each and every day while we are still present in this world. The purpose for that is to so shine our lights for others to want to come along with us. “God would that none should perish.”

I regret to say that not many “Christians” in this day even know what the Bema-Seat Judgment is, or they equate it with the Day of Judgment. The Bema-Seat Judgment is for the Saved in Christ, immediately upon our translation into Heaven. “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” (2 Corinthians 5:10). This Judgment is not for Salvation, but rather our works – what are we doing with Christ since we received Him as our Saviour? When we are saved, we are led by the Holy Spirit to live for Christ, if we are growing in the Spirit and trying to become like Christ. When we let this world lead us astray, we turn from our quiet times with God in our prayer closets, we turn from searching His Word so that it may mold us to be more like Christ and reveal His will for our lives, we leave God’s church family and the support that can be found there to help us through life’s trials and give us a place to serve the Lord.

Do we not understand that living in and for this world, or sowing to the flesh only leads to a life of sin and corruption? Galatians 6:5-8 “For every man shall bear his own burden. Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” A life led sowing to the Spirit of God leads to a life of righteousness and holiness. Those who sow to their own flesh do not lose the Spirit, but they lose the fruit of the Spirit. What kind of a testimony do we have for a world of lost sinners if we are living in the flesh? (I struggle each day against my fleshly sin nature that we all have as humans. Some times I win and some times I lose. I usually lose when I try to fight the battle on my own instead of calling on the Lord and His Holy Spirit to help me die to my sinful flesh.) Those who sow to the Spirit experience a harvest of righteousness and peace, the abundant life that God wishes for His children to experience in this world.

“Oh, well,” we think, “it’s okay, I am still going to Heaven, and God will forgive me.” Yes, of course both of those thoughts are true, but too many have forgotten that each and every one of us will stand before Christ at this Judgment and give account of what we did for Christ after He saved us. I have spent times in my life in the world, though saved, and when I came back to a walk with Christ, I felt such great remorse for those wasted years that could have been spent shining for Him. While on my knees crying out to God for forgiveness for those wasted years, I could not help but think how each of us will be so terribly overwhelmed by the remorse of not having done more for the cause of Christ, when we go into His presence, that we will weep uncontrollable tears of sorrow. I believe that those are the tears that the Lord God will wipe away from our eyes.

Every Believer has the choice to build with the valuable and lasting relationship with Christ, or the worthless and fleeting corruptness of this world and its ruler, satan. “Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.” (1 Corinthians 3:12-15)

Not only is this Bema-Seat Judgment a time for our works to be held in account, but it is also a throne where Christ will give rewards to His faithful servants. Now, I know that we all love getting recognition for doing good or doing right, but I believe when we received these rewards from Jesus, we will with all our hearts and souls want to turn right around and lay these rewards at the feet of Jesus. We will fully realize that anything we may have earned would not be possible if not for Him-we will not even be in Heaven if not for Him, and it is He who truly deserves all rewards.

Scripture calls these rewards crowns, which comes from 2 Greek words: 1. diadema – a crown worn by a king and bestowed by birthright, 2. stephanos – refers to the crown bestowed an athlete in the athletic games or on the field of battle for personal victory.

Crown of Rejoicing – reward for winning souls to Christ – 1 Thessalonians 2:19 “For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?”

Crown of Righteousness – given to those who have lived life as if Jesus may return at any moment (our great hope) – 2 Timothy 4:5-8 “But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”

Crown of Life – awarded to those who have suffered persecution or martyrdom for their faith – James 1:12 “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.” And Revelation 2:10 “Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.”

Crown of Mastery – for those who have disciplined their bodies and have been victorious over them – 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”

Crown of Glory – this is the crown that will be given to those church leaders who have faithfully cared for the Lord’s sheep – 1 Peter 5:1-4 “The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.”

Our Great loving and merciful God richly rewards those who have persevered and lived in obedience: Matthew 5:5,12; 19:27-30; 25:14-30; Luke 19:12-27

Can we all just imagine what this world and our country would be like if God’s people would fully understand what comes after the Salvation of Jesus Christ in our hearts and lives? I dare say, it would not be as wicked and corrupt as it is today, and becoming more so every day. Yes, I know we are living in the end times, and satan knows that his time is short. Should we not also realize that our time is short as well, and live a life that makes those lost ones want what we have in Christ? Why do we let the evil ruler of this world be so successful in taking as many souls as he can to Hell with him? God did not create any of us for Hell, nor He did create Hell for mankind! He would that NONE should perish! 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

If we are not living for Christ, we are living for satan.

Sin Still Separates us from God

As God took me to His Word in Isaiah 59 this morning, it once again became apparently clear to me that God is still the same today as He was yesterday, and will be forever. He never changes, He is still the one and only all-powerful God Jehovah. Most of us have heard that and been taught it in Sunday Schools and sermons. I believe it to be just as true that humans do not really change in our selfish self-behaviors either. There are no new sins in this earth that have not been committed since the beginning of creation. Our sins still separate us from God, and our schemes to cover up our sins or try to justify them have not changed much over the millenniums either. But, God still deals with our sins and those behaviors, and He still wants and administers judgment for them as He has over the centuries. A chuckle sticks in my throat when I catch myself or see others strive to explain away or cover sin. What a silly waste of time. We all know that since God does not change and He does see and know everything, there is no hiding or twisting or covering anything from Him. His justice always prevails, in His perfect timing. No matter how hard we try, we cannot hide anything from God. David said it in Psalm 139:7-12 “Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.”

God’s Words through Isiah to His people centuries ago still apply to us today – Isaiah 59

1 Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.
4 None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
5 They hatch cockatrice’ eggs, and weave the spider’s web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.
6 Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.
7 Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.
8 The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.
9 Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.
10 We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noon day as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men.
11 We roar all like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.
12 For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;
13 In transgressing and lying against the LORD, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.
14 And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.
15 Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.
16 And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.
17 For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak.
18 According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence.
19 So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.
20 And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.
21 As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.
