Prayers of the Unrighteous

Image result for images for search our hearts

God will not hear the prayers of the unrighteous who refuse to confess and let go of sin in their lives. Do today’s Christians really understand what God’s Word says about how to make sure God will hear and answer our prayers? It seems that people forget now a-days that God is Holy and therefore we are to be Holy. Because He is Holy, He will not hear our prayers if there is some sin that we have not confessed or that we refuse to let go of. Our prayers do not go any higher than our ceiling if we are living as the unrighteous. It is a good habit to get into each day to go before our Lord and ask Him to search our hearts, as we search our hearts for un-confessed sin.

To live righteously simply means to do our best to live right according to our Lord and his Word; to live by Godly morals and values that He teaches in His Word. When we ignore sin in our lives and live according to this world’s low standards, therefore satan’s standards, we create a separation or break in fellowship with the Lord God and He will not hear our prayers.

But you don’t have to take my word for it. See what His Word says for yourselves. And if you are not sure if some of the things you are doing are sin, just go to Him and ask Him and He will sure let you know.

John 9:31 “Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.”

Proverbs 28:9 ” He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.”

I Peter 3:12 “For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.”

Psalms 66:18 “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:”

Proverbs 15:29 “The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

James 5:16 “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Isaiah 59:2 “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”

James 4:4 “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”

James 4:3 “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.”

Vengeance Belongs to the Lord

Let us never forget for a moment that our all mighty God Jehovah knows ALL the thoughts and actions of mankind, and He promises to right the wrongs! “Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise? He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see? He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know? The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.”

The Temple Priests’ Psalm for Wednesdays

Psalm 94

1 O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.
2 Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.
3 LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
4 How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?
5 They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage.
6 They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.
7 Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.
8 Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
9 He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?
10 He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?
11 The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
12 Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;
13 That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.
14 For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.
15 But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
16 Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
17 Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.
18 When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.
19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.
20 Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?
21 They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
22 But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.
23 And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.

Verses 1-11 We may with boldness appeal to God; for he is the almighty Judge by whom every man is judged. Let this encourage those who suffer wrong, to bear it with silence, committing themselves to Him who judges righteously. These prayers are prophecies, which speak terror to the sons of violence. There will come a day of reckoning for all the hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against God, his truths, and ways, and people. It would hardly be believed, if we did not witness it, that millions of rational creatures should live, move, speak, hear, understand, and do what they purpose, yet act as if they believed that God would not punish the abuse of his gifts. As all knowledge is from God, no doubt he knows all the thoughts of the children of men, and knows that the imaginations of the thoughts of men’s hearts are only evil, and that continually. Even in good thoughts there is a want of being fixed, which may be called vanity. It concerns us to keep a strict watch over our thoughts, because God takes particular notice of them. Thoughts are words to God.

Verses 12-23 That man is blessed, who, under the chastening of the Lord, is taught his will and his truths, from his holy word, and by the Holy Spirit. He should see mercy through his sufferings. There is a rest remaining for the people of God after the days of their adversity, which shall not last always. He that sends the trouble, will send the rest. The psalmist found succour and relief only in the Lord, when all earthly friends failed. We are beholden, not only to God’s power, but to his pity, for spiritual supports; and if we have been kept from falling into sin, or shrinking from our duty, we should give him the glory, and encourage our brethren. The psalmist had many troubled thoughts concerning the case he was in, concerning the course he should take, and what was likely to be the end of it. The indulgence of such contrivances and fears, adds to care and distrust, and renders our views more gloomy and confused. Good men sometimes have perplexed and distressed thoughts concerning God. But let them look to the great and precious promises of the gospel. The world’s comforts give little delight to the soul, when hurried with melancholy thoughts; but God’s comforts bring that peace and pleasure which the smiles of the world cannot give, and which the frowns of the world cannot take away. God is his people’s Refuge, to whom they may flee, in whom they are safe, and may be secure. And he will reckon with the wicked. A man cannot be more miserable than his own wickedness will make him, if the Lord visit it upon him.

“Beware! God does Separate the Wheat from the Chaff”

I was reading and studying Psalm Chapter 1 the other day, and what a blessing God’s promises for the righteous are. We can stand on those promises with full confidence in God’s protection because “If God be for us who can be against us?” I am not amazed any more when I see evidence of those who are not meditating on God’s Word and seeking His will for their own part in God’s work. It is many times the envious back-biters who inflict “Attacks on God’s anointed from within.” But I would put this word of warning to those ungodly ones who let satan use them to try and hinder God’s work in a thing: Take care! God does pull the weeds from His church like “the chaff which the wind driveth away.” I have seen this happen in the past couple of years, and I pray that I may never be one of those ungodly ones who does anything to stand in the way of His will. “…the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish!” Remember! God’s Word does not return to Him void! And how about this thought, backbiters, instead of letting the devil have his way with you, try asking God to show you how you may be of service along side those you are envious of and help to further His purpose instead of your own flesh!?

Psams 1: “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”

Notes from Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary regarding Psalm Chapter 1: To meditate in God’s word, is to discourse with ourselves concerning the great things contained in it, with close application of mind and fixedness of thought. We must have constant regard to the word of God, as the rule of our actions, and the spring of our comforts; and have it in our thoughts night and day. For this purpose no time is amiss. The ungodly are the reverse of the righteous, both in character and condition. The ungodly are not so, ver. 4; they are led by the counsel of the wicked, in the way of sinners, to the seat of the scornful; they have no delight in the law of God; they bring forth no fruit but what is evil. The righteous are like useful, fruitful trees: the ungodly are like the chaff which the wind drives away: the dust which the owner of the floor desires to have driven away, as not being of any use. They are of no worth in God’s account, how highly soever they may value themselves. They are easily driven to and fro by every wind of temptation. The chaff may be, for a while, among the wheat, but He is coming, whose fan is in his hand, and who will thoroughly purge his floor. Those that, by their own sin and folly, make themselves as chaff, will be found so before the whirlwind and fire of Divine wrath. The doom of the ungodly is fixed, but whenever the sinner becomes sensible of this guilt and misery, he may be admitted into the company of the righteous by Christ the living way, and become in Christ a new creature. He has new desires, new pleasures, hopes, fears, sorrows, companions, and employments. His thoughts, words, and actions are changed. He enters on a new state, and bears a new character. Behold, all things are become new by Divine grace, which changes his soul into the image of the Redeemer. How different the character and end of the ungodly!

God is Longsuffering BUT His Judgment is Sure!

No matter how those of this world would twist God’s Word to try and appease themselves in their sin, His Word is still infallible and His Judgment is Sure!

NOTE: I am not writing this to open up debate. There has been enough debating and arguing about all of this! But, I, the same as all other citizens of the United States, have a right to voice my opinion and stand on my Biblical beliefs. I will not allow any hate comments or arguing, so don’t waste your time.

If I let myself, I could become terribly callous about the way our country is turning its back on the One and Only True God Jehovah, as it gives in to the demands of those who would try to force us to give our blessing for their sinful choices. I must say that I am weary of “loving the sinner, but hating the sin.” If this small group of homosexuals wish to live a life of abomination to the Lord, even after God’s righteous try and shine His light of truth from His Word for them to see, that is their choice, so be it. It is not our love that they want, it is our acceptance and tolerance of their sin. And if we are not accepting and tolerant of their sin, they wish to destroy us and our lively hoods as a way to force us into agreement. Right now, I feel as though I am part of a very small minority who would stand up against this wrong. Why do I feel this way? Because too many of my fellow Americans are burying their heads in the sand, singing “Kum-ba-ya!” “Do what feels good, God loves you.” Of course God loves all and would that none should perish. Do we read anywhere that Jesus said those things when He took a stand against those who defiled God’s House!? Of course not. It is not a matter of whether God loves us or not, it is a matter of living a life of obedience to God and letting our lights shine for His truth and glory. It is our love for God that should lead us to stand for His truths. It saddens me to the core to see that too many have taken the ‘easy’ road of silence and complacency, and therefore let their lights go dim.

I heard a report the other day that 60% of the American people are ‘okay’ with gay marriage because they do not speak out against it. REALLY! If that is true, this country is indeed in for a rude awakening as God steps back from our back-slidden country and lets each one of us face the consequences. I do not believe that 60% of the American people are okay with this abomination, I believe that 60% have let their lights for the Lord go out. Perhaps it is because of fear of what these who are used by evil are inflicting on those who would take a stand against them. Businesses are being fined hundreds of thousands of dollars and losing their business and then being slapped with gag orders from the corrupt judges to shut them up from voicing and acting upon their own beliefs. How sad that this corrupt legal system bends to the evil doers’ ways and strips the righteous of their rights! Things are definitely backwards!

When I hear the CEO of a big-name coffee bistro bully a Christian shareholder, who points out at a shareholders’ meeting that their profits are down perhaps because of the CEO’s declared stance for gay marriage, and no one stands up for the Christian shareholder, my righteous indignation boils over. I say, since many of us do not agree with gay marriage and many of us do own guns (he has also tweeted “if you own a gun, we do not want your business”), we will honor your request, Mr. CEO, not to give you our business! “Gasp!” Some would say, “You mean boycott them? But there are so many companies who spend our money to further their agenda for evil! Do we boycott them all?” When it is blatantly shoved in my face that my money will be used by a business to further the agenda of gay marriage or anything that goes against my Biblical beliefs or rights as set forth in our Constitution, why would I spend my money there! If more of us would do that, I guarantee that there would be a change in this country. It is a way for “Christians” to let our lights shine and take a stand for our Godly beliefs; for what is right!

This battle about gay marriage is but one spoke in the wheel of the fall of this great nation. It goes along with what has happened in so many of our churches over time – to pacify some, not hurt their feelings, and keep them coming through the doors, we give in on one small principle. Before we know it, it is another principle, then another, until we are no longer Bible principled churches, but are worldly, feel-good places for those who say they are Christians to go and ‘fulfill’ their duty each week. I believe the corruption of so many of our churches has been a pre-cursor to where we are today, just as the breakup of our families is.

Yes, I know that these things have been in the works for centuries; all happening gradually, as is satan’s way. I know that the stage is being set for the day that Jesus will call God’s church Home. I get my hope from that promise and look for that day, knowing that it is indeed very soon! But, while I am still on this earth I refuse to give up my right to my own beliefs and opinions which I do base upon God’s Holy Infallible Word, and I will not be silent about His truths! If more of us would stand up and say, “Enough!” we could change these atrocities. The gay community is but a very small percentage of the American people, but why is it that they seem to be winning this evil battle? Because too many have taken a back seat and kept silent. Remember the old saying, “It is the squeaky wheel that gets greased?” That is what is happening today, but it is the squeaks of the few who have chosen a worldly, instead of Godly lifestyle, that are being heard and catered to. Do we not know that this minority is being used by the liberal progressives who are forcing their agenda to change this country into what they want it to be – socialist! Do we learn nothing by watching what is happening to Greece!? Actually, a part of me feels sorry for the gay community being used this way, and they do not even see it. They are micro focused on trying to force those who do not agree with them to agree because they do not like to face their sin. Somewhere deep down inside themselves, they know they are going against what God wants for them. If they can shut us up, they do not have to deal with those convictions that God’s Holy Spirit places in their hearts.

One of the attributes of our Great and Merciful God is that He is indeed Long-suffering. God’s judgment is sure – Revelation 19: 2, 11 “For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand…And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.” God is called “longsuffering” because He does not execute judgment immediately. He waits – Isaiah 42:14-16 “I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once. I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools. And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.” God does not wait; to see what happens–He knows what will happen; not to see more clearly–He sees perfectly; not to gain more information– He knows everything. God waits because His priority is self-revelation, not judgment.

Longsuffering is not the absence of anger, but being slow to anger – Psalm 145:8 “The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.” God’s longsuffering shows an infinite amount of power, mercy, patience, and love–all of which He has in abundance – Numbers 14:18 “The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.”

God, for a while, tolerates insults, rejection, and indifference in order to draw people to repentance – Romans 2:4 “Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?” His longsuffering is linked with His great compassion and becomes active in order to draw us to Himself – 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

Romans 1:18-32

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Let us not take God’s mercy and longsuffering for granted! It is only for a time! While we are here and call ourselves His:

“Every Man, Woman, and Child!”

Today’s devotional is one that speaks truth about our world today. Thank you man of God, Dr. Tim Green-Revival in Our Time, for speaking God-breathed truth. I pray that today’s itching ears have not become deaf to it.

I am so thankful for God’s hand in leading my family and I to Pastor Brockman, also a true Man of God who is not afraid to speak from God’s Word on our sinful natures and our need for Jesus Christ as the only Saviour, as well as the great love God has for mankind. True men of God who do stick to God’s standards are very hard to find these days. I am also very blessed to have a strong Godly man in my husband who leads our family according to God’s standards, not man’s.

Judges 21:25 “In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.”

“These closing words of the Book of Judges are a sad epitaph of the spiritual condition in Israel at the time, but also a contemporary headline of America, our churches and many of God’s people. It is fair to say that no man did that which was right in God’s eyes, if every man was doing his “own thing!” This contemptible commentary is being lived out in men’s lives, even by those who call themselves–Christians!

The problem arose partially due to the fact that there was no leadership; no king on the throne to guide and direct the people. Our problem today is that most folk will not recognize that the Lord should be the KING sitting on the throne of the heart. We have usurped His authority or just failed to realize, revere or respect His eternal right to rule over the affairs of our lives. We cry like the rabble in the story of the nobleman, “…We will not have this man to reign over us.” (Luke 19:14)

This problem is emphasized in our churches when pastors bow to the laity; it is exaggerated in our homes when wives are un-submissive, husbands unloving, and children are disobedient; and it is excused in our lives when we fail to yield to the One who bought and paid for us with His own life’s blood on Calvary. (Emphasis mine.)

May God help every one of us to endeavor to only do that which is right in the eyes of the God and our Saviour, Jesus Christ.”
