Doctrine of Salvation – Part 13 and Conclusion

X. Glorification

The Salvation of our souls will result in us having glorified bodies in Heaven. There will also be different degrees of glory in Heaven.

A. We will never have the glory of Christ. Isaiah 42:8 “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.”

Isaiah 48:11 “For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.” See also Psalm 82:6-7

Cults who propagate the idea that we will be deities someday are wrong. As true believers, we will be glorified someday, but we will never become gods. Jesus alone will be worshiped as Lord.

Philippians 2:9-11 “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

B. We will someday be glorified in the similitude of Christ’s glorious body.

Philippians 3:21 “Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.”

Matthew 13:43 “Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.”

1 Peter 5:1 “The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:”

Romans 8:17 “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.”

C. There will be different degrees of glory in Heaven. Believers will be glorified based on their works for Christ after their salvation.

1 Corinthians 15:40-44 “There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.”

1 Peter 5:4 “And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.”

Others will be glorified for the amount they suffered for Christ.

2 Corinthians 4:17 “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;”

Romans 8:17 “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.”

Daniel 12:3 “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.”

Matthew 13:43 “Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.”

Conclusion:

We can probably find other processes in the Bible that happen or begin to happen at the moment of Salvation. We have looked at Regeneration, Justification, Redemption, Adoption, Sanctification, Imputation, Propitiation, Reconciliation, Atonement, and Glorification. We have seen how every one of these applies to every believer at Salvation, based solely on the merits of the finished work and the shed blood of Jesus Christ on Calvary.

I am most grateful for our Pastor Carroll who has shared all of these Biblical Doctrines with us, and it is my prayer that these teachings will reach where ever God will take them and accomplish His perfect will for His glory and His Kingdom to come. For we know that His Word does NOT return to Him void.

The Doctrine of Heaven – Part 9

John’s Witness of the Third Heaven – Part 5

https://i0.wp.com/www.biblebookofrevelation.com/Limages/The_144000.jpg

144,000 Stand with Jesus Christ, the Lamb, on Mount Sion in Heaven. The heavenly Jerusalem is like earthly Jerusalem in the sense that both have a Mount Sion. Mount Sion is a hill in Southern Jerusalem – Rev. 14:1-5 “And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.”

  • These 144,000 were seen previously on earth – Rev. 7:1-8 “And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel. Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nephthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.”

Now, over 3 1/2 years later, they are in Heaven. They now form another group that is close to Jesus in Heaven. Why?:

  • They belong to God. They have the Father’s name in their foreheads (Rev. 14:1).
  • They were never defiled with women. They have never committed fornication nor adultery (Rev. 14:4).
  • They are virgins. They are so committed to Christ that they never got married (Compare 1 Corinthians 7:4, 25-26, 32, 34). The single, spiritual life is honored in this group (Rev. 14:4)
  • They follow the Lamb wherever He goes. They are not only Believers, but Followers (Rev. 14:4).
  • They are the redeemed from the earth and from among men (Rev. 14:3, 4).
  • They are the firstfruits of the Tribulation Period unto God and the Lamb. This shows the Pre-Tribulation Rapture of all other saints (Rev. 14:4).
  • There is no guile found in their mouths (Rev. 14:5). Guile means “trickery, a decoy, deceit, to trap.” (See 1 Peter 2:22)
  • They are without fault before the throne of God. This means that they are unblameable. They have an exemplary testimony. These are the type of people that will be near the throne in the Third Heaven (Rev. 14:5).
  • These 144,000 form a powerful choir. The choir sounds like the sound of many waters. I like to compare it to standing next to the Niagara Falls. They are accompanied by harpists. Their voices combine to sound like a great thunder! (Rev. 14:2)
  • They sing a new song that no one else in Heaven will be able to learn – Rev. 14:3 “And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.” All things are not equal in Heaven. Those who live for God on this earth have special blessings. There are some secrets in Heaven between God and His people. Rev. 2:17 “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.”

Revelation 14:1-5

1   And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.
2   And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:
3   And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.
4   These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
5   And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.

Becoming a Godly Woman Part 2

English: Portrait of Rebecca Greenleaf Webster...

English: Portrait of Rebecca Greenleaf Webster, wife of lexicographer Noah Webster, by the American artist Jared Bradley Flagg, oil on canvas. 84.7 cm. x 72.7 cm. Image courtesy of the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library, Yale University. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Titus 2:3 “The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;”

My last entry focused on what it means to be Godly with behaviour that becomes holiness. Today’s topic is false accusers. The Greek word for false accuser is diabolos (dee-ab’-ol-os). It means devil or slanderer. Nowadays we call them gossipers. I think we can all agree that gossiping is not Godly behaviour; it is quite the opposite and very harmful.

Gossipers are known for starting or spreading malicious rumors, and/or divulging personal information that someone has trusted them with. Noah Webster’s 1828 American Dictionary defines a gossiper as: “One who runs from house to house, tattling and telling news; an idle tattler.”

Are they always women? No, men have been known to do it too, but I would say that women are the weaker vessels in this area. Are they always older women? No, but older women are to set an example for the younger, inexperienced women. Have I ever gossiped about someone? Yes, I shamefully admit that I have. One thing though – the Holy Spirit has convicted me very quickly, helping me to make things right when I have joined in on gossiping. I was also taught, growing up, not to say anything behind a person’s back that I would not be willing to say to that person’s face.

Have I been hurt by others’ gossip? Most definitely, and God lays it on my heart to remember those times when I feel tempted to prattle on about someone else. I pray daily (and sometimes constantly) that God will guide and control my tongue along with my thoughts and actions. Left to my own devices, I cannot overcome any temptation.

I have seen precious souls leave God’s house because of one person’s thoughtless scuttlebutt. Some have found a new church home, but some were so devastated by such hurtful actions that they left the church never to return. Also, sadly, lifelong friendships have ended because of an uncontrolled tongue.

Our speech comes from one of two sources – Satan or God:

Words that are motivated by Satan are full of bitter jealousy, selfish ambition, earthly concerns and desires, nonspiritual thoughts and ideas, disorder, and evil.

In Contrast:

Words that are motivated by God are full of purity, peace, consideration for others, submission, mercy, sincerity, impartiality, and goodness.

If we are sincerely seeking to know God more each day, we are in His word, listening to His direction in our prayer time, busy about God’s work, and caring for our families. That leaves no time to focus on what may or may not be happening in other peoples’ private lives. The old saying, “idle minds are the devil’s workshop,” is appropriate here.

Luke 6:45 “A good man (or woman) out of the good treasure of his (or her) heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man (or woman) out of the evil treasure of his (or her) heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his (or her) mouth speaketh.” Additions in ( ) are mine.
